The WG Type Crowned Gear Coupling is a high-performance power transmission component specifically engineered for heavy-duty operating conditions. While retaining the misalignment compensation advantages of conventional crowned gear couplings, it adopts a larger module gear design to significantly enhance overall load-carrying capacity and torque transmission capability. This series is particularly suitable for demanding industrial sectors such as metallurgy, mining, port machinery, and heavy equipment manufacturing, where high torque output and operational stability are essential. It serves as a critical connection element in heavy-duty drive systems.
In terms of structural configuration, the WG crowned gear coupling mainly consists of an internal gear ring, an external gear sleeve, end covers, and sealing assemblies. The external gear sleeve features a crowned tooth profile, with a convex tooth top and an arc-shaped tooth surface, and a larger tooth side clearance than that of conventional straight-tooth couplings. This optimized gear geometry allows more flexible meshing contact. When radial, axial, or angular misalignment occurs between the connected shafts, the tooth contact position can automatically adjust to ensure more uniform load distribution, effectively preventing tooth edge loading and localized stress concentration. Under zero radial displacement conditions, the permissible angular misalignment can reach up to 1°30′, representing an improvement of approximately 50% compared with traditional straight-tooth designs. This enables the coupling to better accommodate installation errors and shaft deviations during operation.
The WG coupling is manufactured from high-strength alloy steel and undergoes carburizing and quenching heat treatment, resulting in high surface hardness and excellent wear resistance. Its torque transmission range covers from 710 N·m to 3150 kN·m, with applicable shaft diameters ranging from 12 mm to 400 mm, meeting the transmission requirements of various heavy-duty applications. With a transmission efficiency of up to 99.7%, it effectively reduces power loss and improves overall system efficiency. The smooth meshing characteristics of the crowned teeth help minimize vibration and operational noise, enhancing the working environment. In addition, the well-designed sealing structure prevents dust ingress and lubricant leakage, further improving durability and service life under harsh industrial conditions.
