WGZ Type Crowned-Gear Coupling with Brake Wheel

The WGZ Type Crowned Gear Coupling with Brake Drum is a heavy-duty coupling that integrates high-torque transmission capability with reliable braking functionality. It is widely used in applications such as hoisting and conveying equipment, mining machinery, metallurgical installations, and large rotating systems where high braking responsiveness and load capacity are essential. Based on the structural design of the WG crowned gear coupling, this model incorporates an integrated brake drum, achieving structural integration of transmission and braking functions. This design reduces the need for separate braking components, resulting in a more compact and rational system layout while enhancing overall operational safety and stability.
Structurally, the WGZ coupling mainly consists of an external gear sleeve, an internal gear ring, a brake drum, and sealing assemblies. Its transmission core features a crowned tooth profile, with the external teeth machined into a spherical surface whose center coincides with the shaft axis. Increased tooth side clearance enhances the coupling’s ability to accommodate shaft misalignment. Compared with conventional straight-tooth designs, the crowned gear structure allows automatic adjustment of the tooth contact area when radial, axial, or angular displacement occurs, ensuring more uniform load distribution. This effectively prevents tooth edge loading and localized stress concentration, thereby improving tooth surface durability and operational reliability. The brake drum is rigidly connected to the coupling body and is specifically designed to match shoe-type braking systems. During shutdown or emergency braking, the brake shoes act on the drum to generate braking torque, quickly interrupting power transmission and ensuring safe equipment operation.
The WGZ coupling is available in two sealing configurations: Type I (split sealing end) and Type II (integral sealing end). Type I features larger tooth spacing, allowing greater radial displacement compensation. Type II offers a more compact structure with lower rotational inertia, making it suitable for applications requiring faster dynamic response and limited installation space.
