The SWP-B Telescopic Short Universal Coupling is an improved version of the cross universal joint, featuring axial telescopic functionality. It is a critical connection component in mechanical transmission systems. Building on the traditional SWP series universal couplings, this model has undergone structural optimization to integrate the telescopic feature, allowing for effective axial displacement compensation while transmitting torque. It is widely used in industries such as metallurgy, mining, lifting and transportation, and petrochemicals, especially in high-precision and high-reliability power transmission systems.
The core components of the SWP-B coupling include two universal joint yokes, a cross assembly, a telescopic section made of spline shafts and spline sleeves, as well as a bearing housing and sealing devices. Its working principle is based on a double-hinge structure of the cross shaft, which achieves angular compensation through two perpendicular hinges, while the spline set provides axial telescopic functionality. During operation, when there is an angular misalignment between the two shafts, the rotation of the cross shaft automatically adjusts, ensuring continuous torque transmission. Meanwhile, if axial displacement occurs, the spline set slides freely to perfectly compensate for the axial deviation.
Compared to traditional SWP couplings, the SWP-B model offers several advantages. Its space-saving design integrates the telescopic functionality, significantly reducing the required installation space. Additionally, the coupling is easier to install as it does not require extra telescopic sections, simplifying system design and reducing maintenance points. The high-precision spline engagement not only improves transmission efficiency but also minimizes energy loss, ensuring the system operates at high efficiency.
